Hi Everyone
I'm desperate. I'm a moderately physically active 50 year old female, who was formerly VERY ACTIVE my entire life. I hate sitting down, i never watch t.v. but i think my meds are making me fat!!!
for the past 12 years i've been on an anti-depressant called paxil, and the minute i got on it, i gained 50 lbs. I was a thin, fit fitness instructor in my 30's and now i'm 180 lbs, and i'm only 5'4". I do power walking and weights about three times a week, but i can't get my eating under control. I'm always hungry.
I've always been able eat anything i wanted without worrying, (how many times have you heard this before!) but now i just look at food and I gain.
I have done the low carb thing, the longest i was ever on it was about three months, and i really seemed to lose inches........but why can't i stay on it? It gets so boring, and i'm the type of person who ISN'T GOING to pre-make any of my foods, no way......i'm always running late, and barely have time to make it to work on time every morning..........
I'm so depressed. I used to model, and when i look at myself now, even though im pretty solid, i'm just so much bigger than i want to be.
I get so tired of salads and chicken. I don't eat beef, and i'm really not crazy about fish, although i do love tofu!
How do all of you keep up your morale?
And i know before, when i was 'lo-carbin' it, i didn't feel very strong, and i certainly couldn't lift my weights (cos of low glycogen in muscles). What do all of you do for exercise? I love walking, but i don't walk really really fast, i hate that.
