One of the most common errors people make, including low carb dieters, is thinking that weight loss is only about calories. This mistake is not our fault, as most of us have always been taught that weight control is all about calories in vs. calories out. Although this may seem simple and straightforward, it doesn't tell the whole story.
The most important thing to consider when exercising is not just how many calories you burn during the session, but how much you stimulate your metabolism to continue burning calories even after the session is over.
So really, it's not about what you do, but how intensely you do it. Exercise must have a greater purpose than just burning calories directly--it must be focused around changing the internal environment of your body, which subsequently leads to external changes in your body in the form of weight loss and loss of inches.
My exercise recommendation for low carb dieters is simple--exercise to burn more sugar so that you may burn more fat at rest. To accomplish this you must train both aerobically (walking, jogging, biking) AND anaerobically (weight training). As you add more intensity to your program you will position your body to burn more stored sugar (glycogen) which is basically the same result you are looking for from low carb dieting. By keeping stored sugar low, you allow your body to increase it's rate of fat utilization. This will not only help you lose weight, but it will also help you slim and reshape your body.
