Hi, Just joining but I've been doing low carb for about 3 years now. I originally lost over 100 pounds and have stayed "stable " for over a year but would like to really get rid of these last pounds that I want to lose. Hope to "meet' everyone soon! --dawn

:)Hi Dawn, wow, that is amazing to lose that much, I am so impressed !! I need to lose about 109 pounds myself and look so forward to being able to say I lost 100 !! I would love to know about how long it took you and what low carb plan did you follow, and what are your best tips for us just starting out. I have tried many times but have always fallen off, I would love to know what you did to succeed. I am at day 14 and going strong and I am very motivated, but I am always interested in learning from someone as successful as you have been !! I look forward to hearing more about your low carb journey, Stephie

I am doing Atkins... well, I must tell you that I was VERY frustrated in the beginning because my husband and I started at the same time... 6 weeks later, he was where he wanted to be and I had barely lost anything! I kept telling him that if something didn't change, I was going to quit and just eat what I wanted.. hehehee Anyway, I stuck with it and the pounds just started disappearing.. I will say that supplements seem to help (good multi-vitamins; L-carnatine; extra B vitamins; and others that atkins recommends); and drinking LOTS of water (8-8oz glasses plus 8oz. for every 25 pounds you want to lose); and exercise.. I started walking which really helps with the inches.. plus I started weight training about 2 years ago to help firm everything up.
The best advice.. is just take it one day at a time.. don't think, "it will take me ____ months to get where I want" because that just seems to make it worse.. I get up each day and just make a promise for today that I will only eat what's on my menu and I will only do ___minutes of exercise. It's kind of like tricking myself because once I start, I usually go longer.. for instance, I will tell myself, okay, I'll do just 10 minutes of lifting weights and it turns into 45 minutes.. or.. I'll only walk from point A to point B but I always end up going farther because I didn't tell myself that I had to do it--
And I love finding and trying out new recipes! Which reminds me, gotta go put dinner in the crock pot! --dawn

I totally agree with you about taking things one day at a time. both hubby and I started out losing slow this time, we think the low carb ice cream we were eating slowed us down. We have since stopped eating it and weight loss has started back up. I drink a lot of water, it is so important on this woe. My doctor warned me to drink plenty of water to avoid kidney stones, he said the only thing he has seen patients on low carb have problems with is that, not drinking enough water and getting stones. I do not want that , and I do not lose if I do not drink enough water. I do have to do better on a wider range of suppliments, I take the basics , but need to take more. I started back at Curves today and will get on my treadmill as soon I can get to it, we are redoing some rooms in our house and every thing is stored in here and I can't fold the treadmill down. It should empty out in a few days and I will be able to use it again, I can't wait, I know it will make a huge differance in my weight loss. Thanks for the great advice, I always love hearing what works for those who have lost so much !!! Stephie

Wow, howdy, I am soooo impressed with your wt loss, and I have over 100 lbs to lose. I would really like to hear more about how you were able to acheive this, how long it took you, and how it has affected your life now. I now weigh 293, which is down from 309, but as you see for a 5 ft 6 inch frame, I still have a long way to go. So please have mercy on this beginner, and send a little wisdom this way. Thanks bunches.
