That`s great news joe Finally the result you have been waiting for. It is great that you have upped your water intake, as you see it really DOES help flush the system You must be felling great knowing your belt is now tighter Keep up the good work (and the water consumption)

things about the same here. I need to tell you that the bread mix I purchased the other day---from Carb Sense--'harvest Wheat Bread Mix' baked super in the bread machine and tastes very well!! I asked my wife and daughter to try it and they made no fuss over it-saying there was no 'taste' to it, unlike others I tried.
Hey, that is the trick--no peculiar taste--and it toasts up great too!! Now, the only problem is the $5.45 price for one loaf is a little steep....
3 carbs per slice net too...at least it is sold at my local store...
How about your ends of the world? Joe

BTW, on the bread--ingredients: Vital wheat gluten, cornstarch(low glycemic), wheat bran, salt and soylecithin...that is all.

Hi Joe, Doing well this week I know what you mean about the bread "Pre-Mix" prices.... a bit steep. Here is a bread recipe you can cook at home....... might work out cheaper Johns` Bread SubstituteIt looks like a bread, it tastes like a bread and I use it as a bread ...Over the last six months I have refined the receipe to the point where it now forms the base of my LC foods...It's quick to make,(5 minutes to mix, 40 minutes to cook, 2 minutes to clean up and two days to eat), it's very filling and it's LOW CARB...You can toast it, you can make sandwiches with it, sliced thin you can use it as a pizza base...If you did it with HC bread you can do it with this and not feel guilty... Ingredients... 2 cups Fibre Mix (see note 1) = 1 pound 1 tb/s Baking Powder = 16ml 1 t/s Salt = 5ml ½ cup Grated Cheese (Dry mix these 4 ingredients) =1/4 pound 2 Eggs 1 tb/s Oil (I use flaxseed oil, canola or olive oil is ok) = 1/2 oz 1 cup Water = 8 oz ¼ cup Cream = 2 oz Mix well and put into non stick 220mmX110mm meatloaf tin (I line mine with baking/WAX paper)...Cook in preheated oven at 190 c / 375 F for 40-45 minutes...Turn out to cool on wire rack...ENJOY...I store mine in a paper towel lined plastic container in the fridge...Sliced about 7mm to 8mm thick, it holds together well because of the cheese...This receipe will keep you regular too which is a problem when low carbing... Note 1.. For the fibre mix I use 2kg LSA (LSA is a mix of Linseed (flax) , Sunflower and Almond) = 32 oz 1kg Phsallm Husks = 16oz ½kg WPConcentrate (I use WPIsolate if $'s permit) = 8 oz I premix and store the above ingredients in a large plastic container and is enough for about 10 loaves... about 10 grams in the whole loaf Note 2.. the LSA can be found in health food shops and also in the health food section of supermarkets, i buy mine from coles, it is linseed, sunflower seeds and almonds ground up and mixed ( FLAX) . WPI does stand for whey protein isolate, and psylluim husks are usually sold same as LSA and generally ground. hope this helps.

Well, a belated Thanks for the recipe--it sounds awfully tasty! I have printed it our and it is in the car so I can begin to gather the ingredients--it sounds so much more than just bread. Sounds like what I used to bake a number of years ago--I used to add some coarsely ground peppercorns. I will do this, possibly this weekend. Do you know the carb count for a slice or two? Also, 'baking paper'--is that 'waxed paper'? I notice the fairly low baking temperature--that is Fahrenheit or possibly, Centigrade? I need to 'translate' the fiber mix to be sure I have it correct. Again, Thanks. I am truly amazed at how good the Barb Sense bread tastes. I guess it says that they can do it if they choose to. 'Regular' white bread here costs about $1.25 or so a pound, so, for comparison purposes, this is about 4 times the cost. ************** On another note--I still am awakened to leg cramps and seem to stave them off by taking 1 or 2 Potassium Pills 2 or three times a day along with 1 or 2 just before bedtime. This coincides with what Dr Atkins says may happen. So, again as he recommends, I cal the doctor and ask for a potassium supplement prescription. He called back and said that my recent blood tests showed the potassium level to be right on target and he did not want to mess with that. So, he prescribed Quinine, which the pharmacy had to order. This was never mentioned in all the listening and reading I had done, but my doctor is a young guy who really pays attention to details, so I am going to do as he says. Time'll tell. Apple picking signs are going up at the orchards around here and my 13 year old wants me to take her to pick some this weekend--not going to be good as it will be hard to resist eating a dozen or two--not to mention the cider doughnuts!!! The grapes on my vines are nice and blue too........ Fall is not a good thing for me as it is a precursor of what I don't really enjoy. It also takes me away from something I like(see www.redbelair.com ). Enough from here. How are things there? It is 7AM here. Take Care Joe

Hi Joe Sorry about the recipe confusion........ I got it from an Americal forum, but the poster is an Aussie LOL *He says it is about 10 carbs for the WHOLE recipe, but I think it depends on products/brands used. *Bakeing paper IS waxed paper. * oven temp is 190 C so for you it would be 375 F. *The "fibre mix" is what you all call "FLAX"..... (it is a mixture of linseed, sunflower and almond) I don`t know how much it would cost for you to make the bread, so you might want to price the ingrediants first, and work out how many loaves you will get for your money Follow the young Docs orders for the leg cramps.... and hopefully it helps. We are all different, and react differently to all medications. He may just have the answer for you. I`m lucky.......... I don`t really like fruit that much, so i could pick apples or grapes without sampling LOL... I`de just run if I seen bugs or catapillers ... Your into fall, we`re into spring.... I LOVE Your red Chev....... can I have it? ?? LOL We don`t see all that many of them here....... especially not in such good nic. Do you go to meetings with the car, like a Chev club? Things are good here......... day 3 of strict low carbing for me....... but I do seem to have mouth ulsers or something, the past few days......... might have to get an aniseptic spray for them. Other than that, back to normal for me Let me know if you cook the bread, and how it turns out. 10.22pm Wednesday night here Stay well, and here`s hopeing those leg cramps dissapear Dawn

Dawn We are up at the same time!! 836 AM Here! Thanks for the conversions for the recipe. It sounds like I am going to like the bread..
Chevy is fun, but some work right now. I used to belong to clubs when I used to do some racing...not any more though. I just enjoy driving the car. I have one more to do but I am getting too old and may not---one of the kids may have to deal with it.
I have whole ground Flaxseed meal here form the other recipe I use. Is that the same.
Not good news about the need for antiseptic spray. I use Listerine each day--maybe that would help instead of the spray.
At this point, I would eat through the caterpillars or bugs to get to a freshly picked apple and even worse for a donut!!!
Spring is my favorite!
Take Care Joe

Sorry Joe, I was hurrying my last post, as Dale wanted the computer, so i didnt even see that you were on. It is now 12.30am Thursday morning here, and i`m wide awake. Thanks for the listerine tip...... i have a big bottle of that, and never thought of it. Just checked... I have the "reach" brand, not listerine... but the same thing The bread recipe had rave reviews from the people on the site I got it from. Flaxseed meal would be ok.... the recipe asked for a mix of flaxseed, sunflower and almond, but you dont have to follw any recipe to the letter.... so use what you have I was laughing when i read about you said you would eat through the bugs and catapillars for an apple ;D What`s a cider donut??? I thought it was your name for grapes LOL......... I DO have a recipe for low carb donuts.... Donuts1 cup protein isolate = ½ pound 1/4 tsp salt = 1 ml 1/2 cup sugar substitute = ¼ pound 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla or coconut flavoring = 5ml 1/4 cup cream =60ml or 2 oz 1/4 to 3/4 cup water (enough to make a shapable dough) = 60 to 190ml or 2 to 6 oz Sift dry ingredients together. Add flavoring, egg, cream, and water. Form into balls the size of doughnut holes . Fry in hot oil until browned. (You might have to break one open to see if it's done.) Toss cooked donuts in a mixture of Splenda and cinnamon. You could also ice/glaze the donuts with a mixture of cream cheese. cream, sugar substitute and flavouring., or pump sugar free jam inside the donuts. Well it`s great you have a nice car to ride around in, even if you are no longer competeing And I love spring also....... weather is not too hot, and not too cold........... flowers are out......... birds chirping....... and everyone seems to come out of their winter blues. I hope the bread turns out nice for you........ would be a good source of fibre..... and seems to be low in carbs (depending on brands used). Gargleing the breath stuff, as we speak.. ;D Don`t work too hard.. PS:- Has Florida Daughter decided on to stay or come home?

Cider donuts are available only in the fall during apple harvest time and are made with cider. Nice crispy taste. Grapes are Grapes!! Geeze, I am going to be cooking my ... off!! Sounds like a lot of ingredients that don't belong in donuts---taste like donuts?
There is no telling what I would do for popcorn!!!
The oldest kid is happy--I think she is coming home to visit boyfriend in a week or two--then I will have my say--I don't like it at all. Go to school...do well...get out..get a job..look for boys. That is the order of things according to me. No one listens.
I enjoy the car.
Bee good. Joe

I have never heard of cider donuts ;D I don`t make up any recipes, as I only eat plain meat , vegies and some dairy, until I loose my weight. Once i`m at my goal weight, I will start with the recipes, so I only go on the FEEDBACK from where I get the recipes. The donuts would be like a ball, not a ring-donut........ I LOVE (or used to) hot jam ball donut I like your theory on life, and the order it should happen, but it doesn`t always turn out that way. ....... like you said, you get to have your say when she arrives I`m still hunting for a popcorn substitute........ 1 cup of air-popped popcorn has about 5.5 carbs. Maybe you can just cut back on other carbs, and allow yourself a treat every now & then??? is 1 cup enough for you?

Well, I guess it would depend if the one cup is unpopped or popped! As I think it is measured as 'popped', one cup is not even worth thinking about. It was my only vice and I used to eat a large container full each night--probably a cup unpopped! But, I did have either a lite beer or a large glass of water with it--do ya think that would that help..... I finished that carb sense bread last night...now I will go shopping for ingredients....
The donuts are the regular round glazed variety with the hole in the center. I am not sure if the cider is in the donut or the glaze, but the taste is distinctive, and, unfortunately, means it is almost Fall.
I am dreaming a lot when I say that I will be in control when Johanna gets home! "I am 20 years old and in college...." is the story I get....
'Hot Jam' may be called 'Jelly' here and they are certainly great! Although I am not a 'sweets' person, I can enjoy a good strawberry filled one once in a while, and, if it was hot I imagine I would like even better.
We have a chain here--nationwide-called Krispy Kreme--that makes their donuts in each store via an automated process using large conveyor type machines and you can watch through the glass. Sometimes, if your timing is right, you can get warm ones with a lot of the 'ukky' sugary good tasting glaze while it too is warm....I sometimes bring some home when I am working in the area--they are cold hen they get here, but, no one usually complains.
Well, it is 845 am and i am going to get moving for the day--service calls lined up.
Talk to you later Joe

On another note, I have been thinking... I kinda like the low carb milk and one cup yields 3 grams of carbs....so, if I could find a lower carb cereal...I could have a bowl--with, maybe a strawberry or two and stay under 10 for the feast! If you can think of a cereal thing I would appreciate it!
Thanks for looking for the popcorn!!

The one cup of popcorn IS one cup popped, not a cup of kernals that would make a bucket load ... LOL .... Yeah, I think you call Jam donuts Jelly donuts ............. but i DID see on another forum that "Krispy Kreme" make a "low Carb" donut, but I don`t have any details. Over here, they have vans at markets etc, that sell hot jam/jelly donuts ... But at donut shops, they are mostly cold. I did here that Krispy Kreme will be opening outlets here in Australia......... and that WILL be a bit tempting for me if I see one, as ALL in the US rave about how much they miss them on this way of life. If your Daughter is 20, I don`t think you have much say anymore ;D.... but you CAN put forth your opinion Here is a link for "keto" products.... they sell a canister of "oatmeal" type cereal, that is "Apple Cinnamon" flavour. 1001herbs.com/low-carb/hotcerealapple/And Atkins make a "Crispy flake" style cereal in 3 different flavours. www23.netrition.com/atkins_cereal_page.htmlApparently "Kellogs" makes a "Low Carb" version of Special K cereal. KETO Krisp or KETO Cocoa Crisp Cereals KETO Frosted Flakes KETO Instant Hot Cereals CarbSense Instant Hot Cereals Atkins Morning Start Cereals Atkins Morning Start Bars Flax O Meal Instant Hot Cereals Nutlettes Cereal Many of these items are available at Walgreens and Schnucks stores. Others are only avaliable online. Apparently "Vitacost" on the net are cheaper than Walgreens . click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=Uy4x2CTcANU&offerid=20052.10000082&type=4&subid=0Leave it with me..... and I`ll dig up some recipes you can make at home, rather than buying pre-packaged ones
