Stix can't get any darker than they have been the last two days. I eBelieve I certainly eating enough but may be a little lacking on the water---coffee--three cups or a little more a day with light cream too! My glasses are a little smaller but I do drink a bunch of them.
About the garden veggies.....tomatoes have carbs as do Cukes and beans.....they 'count' against the 'number', don't they? Or, because they have to be digested first do they not? I forgot to include corn.
Thanks and good morning. Joe

Hi Joe!
I will let one of the "pro's" answer your question on the numbers front, but I thought I would add that I have always been wary of tomatoes and only have half a biggie or 3 to 4 cherry toms a day occasionally. Cucumber I eat all the time - half to a whole one , quite often.

I know that cucumbers are fine, and I do know that I am in complete ketosis and I am eating about a half large tomato a day and seem fine. I do know if you keep your carbs low and get most of them from produce, you can get away with more of it, corn maybe not, but the tomatos, should be fine. I would try some and see if it affects your loss, if it does not affect it, keep on enjoying them, if they do, stop or limit it. I love green beans cooked with bacon and have it a lot, have not had it recently, but I never even think about it, I just have them. Really the first two weeks of induction is when you have to restrict the veggies the most. Dr Atkins himself said on one of his last inverviews, that he ate as much vegetables as most vegetarians. He just ate meat with it. The problem is, if you are eating low carb breads and goodies and treats, that means less veggies as you have to watch it more. It seems to me when I eat only veggies and natural meats eggs and some cheese, I do not have to limit my veggies and even have some peas and carrots, though not corn, it is such a starch I do not want to chance it. So, just base the tomatos and such on how much other carbs you are getting, and just tweak it so it works the best to keep you happy. That is really all you can do, and we are each differant too. I just hate to hear you not enjoying home grown veggies, they only come once a year, they are such a treat !!! Stephie ;D

things are fine...I am at the weight I want to be it is just not arranged correctly. MD yesterday for check up and going back next week for blood work up thing....I had it done in May so I will have a good comparison. Still have not had popcorn which means I am still looking at 20 or so carbs a day.... Made some iced tea with that sweet'ner recommended--forgot the name but the box is as light as a feather.... Blood pressure was back to the low it used to be--better. I am interested in the other blood stuff. after the test results are back I will begin to add 5 carbs a day for the week....no exercise though.
That is the update. thanks for being interested. joe

Great to hear you are at your target weight Joe I would be interested in your Cholesterol levels, when you have your blood work results. The light Box of sweetner is possibly "Splenda". So is your blood pressure now too low? Good idea to add 5 carbs daily, per week.......... nice and slow, to find your daily carb level. Keep us posted.

will do on the blood stuff....I had it done in May also after 3 months of no/low fat, so there will be good stats for comparison.
Blood Pressure is almost back where it was all my life---up until a number of years ago anyway--used to always be 90/60--I will take the new one!
Stix remain just about to the extreme right side of the chart..weight is not coming off though, but I will give it another week or so or at least until the blood results are back.
The target weight does not relate to the waist line though, so I figure I would go a few more and see if I can lose it there. Just started some arm exercises as they have just about disappeared!
I am just offended by exercises though. My life is full and stressful and active--what I don't need is something else to do!
However. End of message.....Monday Morning--off to work.
Joe ps, I have been updating that page from time to time.

Well, it seems like time is at a premium all over the place.
Plus, you really have to have no life at all to be here keying in somewhat personal stuff to someone you don't even know through a goofy keyboard....IMHO!
I know I don't have any life other than work but now the stix give me something to look forward to!!!
Anyway, according to the Dr, I have dropped 30 pounds since February, which, on the 22nd, is when I started the almost no-fat diet. On the 22nd of July I switched to low carb and moved from where I couldn't move anymore to the point I am now--at about 6 pounds below that! I have not lost any weight in about a week though, but the lowest weight is now consistent and does not really care where I stand on the scale(I have it marked as to where the feet need to go just to be as accurate as possible!). Told ya, no life at all!
I really need the arm exercise and I walk and carry stuff all day every day with my work(Computer Service) so I don't think I need walking and I really am too old to do things I don't like! I would rather not eat than exercise.
I am eating a lot of vegetables and, if the stix thing/idea is correct, then I must be losing fat but it just is not showing in the scale reading. Unless, of course, the kidneys finally have said 'Uh Huh'.
I have asked the MD to be sure the creatinine test is included in the blood work up.
Long enough message....
Later Joe

Typing personal stuff on the PC to total strangers is not a sign of "no-Life"....... it means you get to share things with people who want the same outcome, and there is bound to be non-diet related things in there somewhere It is 1.13am Tuesday morning here......... I went to bed about 2 hours ago, but couldnt sleep, so got back up for a while ;D I get to check the forums often now, as I am at home permanantly, as My Mother`s carer........... before that, I used to work 6 to 7 days a week, and on call of a night hated being on call...... it was like working 24/7 I`m loveing being at home for a change (has been about 6 months)........ and I have the other Half (Dale) home as well (His last place of employment was outsourced). I have my "low-Carb" forums, and He has His Footy/speedway forums..... works out well That`s excellent that you have dropped 36 lbs since Feb 22nd, and since you are already at your recommended weight, it takes a lot to get Under that figure..... maybe you are looseing in inches, but the scale isn`t showing it? Your active... you work...... if added exersize is not your thing, or you have no time, don`t do it .......... most people don`t exersize as much as they should........ I know I don`t. Maybe if you sit at the PC working with handweights to build up the arms? I`m sure on your next visit, the Doc will have something to add. PS:- At least you have those "Stix" to look forward to...... they have never worked for me...... never ever changed colour in the slightest ........... but then again, I DO drink a H*ll of a lot of water ;D

I guess life has dwindled to work and having the stix to look forward to......think about it--kinda pitiful.
But, hopefully I am making progress.
The Atkins book on tape has been very helpful just to hear--4 or 5 times so far--lots of knowledge there even if I was not dieting.
The snacks and breads and fresh vegetables are issues for me and I assume, all of us.
There has to be two sides to everything, including low carbs. I am taking so many vitamin supplements that it is boring just gathering them all together. Think about it logically---no milk, which means a whole lot of vitamins and minerals are missing. I also can't seem to get enough fiber in to do much good. The fresh leafy vegetables also have carbs....issues result!
I have posted a number of articles on a page and it is both pro and con to low carbs/low fats......if you want to email me I will send you the address. I don't want to cause problems here by posting the address.
Take Care Joe

I know what you mean about life............... before, it was get up, go to work, come home & go to sleep.......day in/day out................ very mundane. I bidded on Ebay for Atkins tapes and videos, but I missed the end of the auction, and lost it, so now just waiting for more to become avaliable. (Not many around here in Australia). The fibre thing is a catch 22......... need the vegies for fibre, but too many vegies = too many carbs................I know that others also take spoonfuls of oil.... physilium husks/capsules, oil capsules, up the fats and drink more water to overcome this. Milk is a whole other issue.............. the Dairy Board pushes it to the hilt, but the Low Fat Guru`s are dead against drinking it beyond infancy, as apparently we can not digest it after that....... grown cows eat grass.. not drink milk. It`s the same for ANYTHING we consume....... someone will always print a therory as to WHY it will kill us I DO know of some low-carbers that still drink milk (low fat)... and eat natural yoghurt. Just make your own mind up about these things........... if your weight remains stable, then HAVE them. You probably need SOME vitamins in pill form, but as you said, downing a tray full each day, is like a meal in itself There are always pro`s and con`s to all ways of eating, as you said........ it`s just a matter of finding a happy balance on an individual level. What effects one, doesn`t effect another. Everyone has their food issues, whether it is bread, potatos, junk food, desserts......... No matter what we choose to do, there will always be issues.... just one of those things we all fall victims to. Just cut and paste your link...... People are ALWAYS linking to other sites so that others can read different articles (pro or against low carb etc), check out other sites etc. ... it is common. (I can`t view your email address... Stephie could because she is a moderator for this site). I`m always reading about the pro`s and con`s about any diet........ helps keep us informed, and make the right decissions for ourselves.......... nothing wrong with that, so post away . Dawn ;D
