Hello. My real name is Kris and I've been off and on low-carb several times over the past 10 years or so. I've done well on it in the past, but got bored with the food. Hence, one of the reasons I have searched out a board that will hopefully keep me motivated and give me ideas for new foods.

I'm about 40 pounds overweight right now, with high blood pressure and cholesterol. I'm on prescription meds for both. My doctor says it's genetic and has told me that even if I do lose weight, it won't really help.

I'd like to prove him wrong (Plus look good in a bathing suit when I take a cruise this coming August.). ;D

I tried low-fat and walking for the past month, and didn't lose a single pound. I needed a boost of confidence, so I switched to low-carb. It's early success has helped me stay on track, and I have not cheated one time in the past week. I've lost 3 pounds in 6 days. (even though I know it's water, it helps)

I'm hoping to meet other low-carbers and share ideas.

Hi Kris, first I'm just as new to all this as anyone so my advice has to be taken that way. But I think you really have to come to terms with the fact that is really has to be life style change not a "diet". People always ask me when I'm going to stop my diet...and I tell them "never".... Luckily I wasn't born with a sweet tooth so it hasn't been to hard on me plus I love to eat meat...so it's win win. I initially started doing this to drop my cholesterol and triglycerides from 350/750 and it really has worked down to 220/300 the weight loss has really been a bonus though - esp for the ladies... Anyway hang in there and send an e-mail if you wanna talk some more....
