I tried ThickenThin not/Starch low carb thickener. I had spent a long time making a really tasty sauce and then I added the thickener. It made it taste so bad I had to throw away the sauce. What a big waste of time and money!
I am looking for a recommendation on what is a good thickener for sauces. Can someone help me? I have resorted to using just a tiny bit of white flour (ack!) and settling for thinner sauces than I would like because I just can't find something that will thicken a sauce without making it taste terrible.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have not been brave enough to try any low carb baking. I would think it would be hard to find a low carb type thickener. I will ask around and see what I can find out for you. There has to be something out there you can use. Is corn starch worse than flour, probably huh. Hmm. Let me see what I can find out. Stephie

:)This is what I found out for you. You can buy xanthan gum at the health food store and from what I was told a little goes a long way.I was told to sprinkle it gently over the sauce and really stir it well, you have to take your time with it as it will get clumpy if you don't, but it has no off taste. Also for spicier foods you can use Guar gum, but in mildier foods it can taste kind of funny. I hope this helps !!! Stephie
